*, It's Rae here, and welcome back to a very, very special edition of & quot, Expensive Art Supplies That No Human In Their Right Mind Would Need. & quot. Today guys I purchased basically the Rolls-Royce of the art world.

. This paint is incredibly expensive. It's incredibly bougie, and one of the selling points of this paint is that royalty is painted with this paint. And today. Not only are we going to test out this paint, but I also have some semi-bougie paint as well as some really cheap paint to compare it against and see if we notice anything dramatic.

And before we get into it guys. I have two announcements.. The first one is that I'm trying to grow my TikTok, so it'd, be really cool if you guys could go check out my art, hacks, my art, videos and other stuff that I have there and the second one which I'm.

A little nervous to tell you guys about. Is I'm thinking about starting a & quot, true crime & quot series on this channel, where I talk about mysteries, true crimes, other spooky things, and while I'm telling the story, I would be making a piece of art that's correlated to it.

, So let me know if you guys would be interested in seeing fine art forensics on this channel and yeah with that being said, guys, let's, get into ... the expensive paint. *Music*! Oh my gosh! So here it is.

, Let's, bask in its glory for a second.. Now this is the Old Holland classic oil colour standard set one.. This is a set of 10 oil colors all handmade with the finest ingredients. 10 tubes 40 milliliters each which, as you can see it's, a pretty good size for an oil color and the total price of these 10 paint tubes.

If you're standing up, you might want to sit down for this. Uh. The total price of these 10 paint tubes was a whopping $ 202., And this is just a small sample of their colors. They actually have a very extensive color chart.

And, hypothetically speaking, if you were to get the whole entire set, it would cost you a whopping. Six thousand dollars Six thousand dollars With six thousand dollars. You could buy a car. You could put a down payment on a house one year of community college here in the United States, So you can definitely understand why this paint is so highly regarded and so bougie.

. Oh, my goodness, the colors are absolutely stunning. And what makes these paints special is that they were all 100 % handmade.. Not just that, Oh my gosh, maybe I should film this later. Now. One thing that makes Old Holland very special is that every single color that you are seeing here was hand-milled and some of the pigments and colors were even milled up to five times.

. I'm just casually watching this, and do not, I repeat, do not ever stick your hand in a machine that pulls inward. Just saying that's, a very bad idea., Every single color that you're. Seeing on the paint is hand-painted on there, so you know exactly what color it is.

. This little thing is also hand-clamped in factory., And you can tell that this thing right here was hand-glued. Hello. Are you in there? It's me., But I mean for $ 200 and 2020. I feel, like cardboard, is a little bit cheap.

You know, And I do believe that there is a right way to do. Cardboard. Like, for example, my Caran D'Ache. Pencils.. These are still luxurious pencils.. They're a little bit cheaper than this, and even though it's made out of cardboard there's like soft padding, not just on the inside, but for every single individual pencil.

For $ 200. I think they should look into amping up their packaging.. I think that would help them be even more luxurious than they already are, especially if you're going to buy that $ 400 individual tube of paint.

I would want like the absolute best packaging. You know Like we're talking, Chanel, cotton swabs. It comes with a box free samples cards, tissues .... So I would like to see Old Holland maybe apply something extra with the with the packaging and for $ 200.

I really wish they would have included a black color.. This is the darkest color that there is it's like this gray. Color.. Look all I'm saying is that it's super easy to make gray out of black, but it's, not so easy.

The other way around.. But honestly I could get over the cardboard packaging if the colors and the product is just absolutely worth it.. I had to kick Bowie out because paint thinner is not good for little doggies.

Get outta here. First color is titanium white. I don't know why I swatched this one.. You can't even see it. We have Light, Yellow ... Gold Lake. This one's. Okay, it's, not as opaque as I would like it to be.

. I'm, not even gonna try to pronounce this color. I'm, just gonna put it up on the screen. Crimson one of my personal favorite colors ... Ultramarine Blue Sap, Green gorgeous beautiful., We have Burnt, Sienna Burnt, Umber came out, perfect smooth.

And lastly, we have the gray.. So what I have here with me today are the cheap counterparts to these expensive paints. So I think it's, going to be really interesting, to put these two side by side and see how big the difference is because there might not even be a difference.

. So here are the $ 200 paints. Get a good look.. First, we're, going to compare the ultramarine blue.. I thinned these out so much, but you can definitely tell there's, a difference. Next to the $ 200 paint it doesn't.

Even look like oil paint.. It looks like like acrylic or something.. Next up is the crimson. Not gonna lie the cheap crimson kinda goes off.. Like I don't know.. I feel like that. Color is a little bit prettier than the expensive crimson.

Now earlier. Do you remember when I said that some of the colors are milled up to 4 5 times That's, because some of the earth colors like these two right here? They're very, very difficult. To make and, to be honest, I haven't, really found a store Burnt, Umber or Raw Sienna.

That is quality., But earlier when I was swatching, I really loved the way these two came out. Now I'm embarrassed that I just said that, because they look almost the same, I mean this one's a little bit thinner, a Little bit more red, but I mean they look very similar.

. Okay, we'll, try a Raw Umber now. There we go see how different that one looks So yeah. To be honest with you, there is a clear difference between the two, but so far I don't think this is a $ 200 difference.

. You know This is like a $ 40 difference., And you know just to be extra. These paints that I have here in my hand, these were $ 90.. It's, half the price. It also comes with 10., And I bet on my life that these are gonna, perform the exact same as these ones.

Alright. So first up will be Ultramarine, Blue. Uh. Why is this color not only deeper but performs, like literally the exact same *Cricket, chirping* Uh? That could just be a fluke.? We'll. Try it again with the red color.

. So here's, the Old Holland, red., Okay, pretty nice., And here is the center layer.. Oh, my gosh, that is the literal same right. There. I can't believe it. See the Burnt Sienna it's kind of streaky, like the cheaper ones.

Now.. The mid-tier paint looks the exact same as the expensive paint, except for the Burnt Sienna.. So we got the colors. We got. The swatches, I think I'm, ready to make a painting and make my final decision if these are worth it because 6000 dollars SIX THOUSAND dollars.

So today I'm, going to be painting on this piece of wood. That's left over from my last video., And today I'm, going to be painting this really really beautiful. Eyeshadow. Look that I found from Pinterest.

, I'll. Try to link the original source to this photo.. I might not get it right, so if I don't get it right, please let me know.. I will gladly gladly credit the person. *Music*. Oh no guys look what I did.

. I got a giant chunk of paint all up on my phone. That's like five dollars worth of paint, but I'm gonna try to save it. *Silently sobbing* *Music continues*. Now. One thing that I just got to give credit to is that this paint really pops off with the pigment, because a little will go such a long way.

Unless you're, doing really large artwork or really thick artwork. I would not recommend this paint to you, because you would literally be spending thousands on paint. Get a life, Get a life, Get a ( Singing ) Liiiiiiiiiiiiiife, But this paint ain't perfect, like I said I really really really wish.

There was a black color, especially now that I'm, doing the eyebrows and the pupils which are like literally pure black and for two hundred dollars for oil paint. I expect actual perfection. *Rap music*.

The formula of this paint A plus one of the best formulas I have ever used when it comes to oil paint.. This palette right here, chef kiss.. This gray, though it gots to go. The packaging, was kind of a flop.

. Although I do like the little details on the tubes themselves., The only people who I would recommend to buy this, a $ 200 paint set are professional artists who do very, very, very thinned out. Work like like.

I did here., But I mean for the rest of us $ 200, that's just too much. It's, good paint.. It's, just so much money.. So anyway, guys. Thank you so much again for watching, and I will see you guys next video.
